Yummy Yummy Teacakes!!

Awww I can't wait to make some of these again.

Can you believe I have now caught my third cold this season?! I'm so over it this time round and have  decided to quickly look for solutions to lift my spirits...here's the recipe:

Honey & Apricot Teacakes

1 cup of All Bran cereal
1/2 cup of rolled oats
1/2 cup of sultanas
50g margarine
3 tbsp of sugar
1/4 cup of honey
3/4 cup of milk
1 egg
1 and a half cups of self raising flour
1 x 425g tin of apricots,  chopped
zest of half an orange, extra to decorate

In a large mixing bowl chuck in the margarine, sugar, honey, milk and egg. Sift over the flour and mix until smooth.

Pfff! It said chop the apricots - but I just put them in the bowl and cut them with scissors.

Next, add the oats, sultanas and All Bran.  Mix it all thoroughly and pop it into muffin cases...I found they didn't rise very much - but then they are tea cakes and not muffins -  so fill them a very good 3/4 full and they will be as you see in the pic.  Sprinkle on your orange zest and you're away!

Now for the cooking time...well the recipe said to do them on the middle shelf for 16 - 18 minutes but that would really only be for pretty small tea cakes, at 180 degrees.  I did 180 in the middle and of course as I had doubled the size, they took 30 minutes.....but I didn't think of that at the time did I? No no no, prod them and poke them I did and not with a nice neat skewer either - goodness me, the poor things probably baked themselves out of fear!

Mmmm....yummy yummy teacakes toasted golden and smothered with butter....

Enjoy xx

Thank goodness for Earl Grey Tea!

Aaaaah *SUPER SIGH*.  I guess you could say I have been suffering a hint of the infamous writer's block.  So I thought perhaps I might just start at the beginning.  Genius!
With a cup of tea, of course...

I received this beautiful gift from the lovely Karen, my other half's sister in law (I always thought there should be a name for this relation) and inevitably I have been drinking tea until the cows come home.  Obviously I am quite contented that they have not, as of yet arrived.

This tea has really been my saving grace recently as
for a while now, I have had quite a lot on.  With work and setting up a new business, I find myself crafting away for the stockpile as if I have not a moment to lose!

On which note, I thought you'd like a little sneak peak of something crafty I have been doing recently....

Can you guess what it will be?

I'm going to re-write the pattern for this.  It's just a little...well, old.  Around half of the pattern is written in that superfluous way that old crochet patterns were written, which of course was an attempt to make it more understandable, but did just the opposite.

So, needless to say, all this has left no time at all for blogging, eating, chores, baking yummy wonderous things or leisurely early morning strolls....subsequently, I haven't blogged since the dawn of time, eat mainly on weekends and have forgotten what nature looks like -  but hey at least there's Earl Grey tea.

Oh, and for some unknown reason, almost as if I have BAGS of spare time sitting about my house, I decided to enter the Sketchbook Project......and I'm SO excited!!

Ooooh....look at what I just finished!
