About

Hello lovely readers!
Welcome to my blog and thanks so much for stopping by.
On this page, I've put together a little about myself, how The Diary of an Op Shop Junkie came into being and why I write about what I write about.

My name is Asa-Marie Webster.
I've just moved to interstate, from Melbourne to Mullumbimby and now that we've been here around 8 weeks, I have really set the ball rolling on opening my crafty little shop on Etsy.  Of course I'll have to have a market stall too which I can't pretend I'm not terribly excited about.
My shop's called "The Crafty Poppet" and I'll be selling products that are all handmade by myself using mostly fibrecraft techniques such as crochet, macrame, knitting and embroidery but the best bit is that I use around 95% recycled or reclaimed materials - or both!  I really have the environment in mind here.  Everything is second hand too so it can be tough, coming up with designs based on what materials are available to me -  but I so
enjoy the challenge, so this way of working suits me well. Plus I love that it keeps all of my products completely unique from the next thing you find.

Op Shops.
I find these mysterious and wonderful little shops to be such an immense treat that I literally skip down the road filled with glee and joy at the prospect of what I may find.  And that's just it really.  It's the mystery and the sheer excitement of the unknown - that cheeky childlike feeling that makes you think you might actually burst! Aaah sigh, I do love a good buy. Not to mention it's all recycled items, your money is being donated to a charity and the existence of these treasure troves gives  volunteers a chance to socialise and be part of a community, that they might not have if not for the simple and yet central op shop.
So that's me. An op shop junkie. Aah I love it so!

Photography is a relatively new thing in my life but if I have my camera I'll quite contededly snap away for hours at whatever looking for the perfect shot.

Baking is hugely fun too - I am currently working my way through all my collected recipes each weekend and whether triumph or tribulation, I vow to post it!

I do very much hope to inspire all who read this diary of an op shop junkie. Thanks so much for taking the time to read, have a lovely day!

Asa-Marie
